On our usual stroll in Phoenix mall, we came across Chianti and decided to try it out. Chianti is the new Italian restaurant and if you are a Masterchef aficionado, you will be glad that we can try out those lovely Italian dishes in real out here at Chianti. The food was absolutely yummy and the service impeccable. Be ready to see a menu which has Italian names of the dishes and a supportive staff who is ready to assist you. Here is the list of dishes we had – Zucca De Pomodoro, Piatto Di Vegetariani, Ravioli De Spinachi E Ricotta and Pannacotta with Berry Compote.
We begin with a Complimentary Chianti Bruschetta which we prepare given the ingredients. Every table has a simple instruction on the table and it was fun preparing our own Bruschetta with Baguettes, garlic, cherry tomatoes, basil and olive oil. We were so busy preparing and eating it as our Zucca (soup) was getting ready.
Copper Chimney Opens its New Restaurant in Phoenix mall, Chennai
Copper chimney known for its traditional and authentic North Indian food has opened its new outlet in Phoenix Market City, Velachery, Chennai adding to the gastronomic journey of food outlets in the mall. Being an avid lover of Copper Chimney, we were happy when they opened their outlet in Ascendas IT Park. Now they have moved from there to Phoenix mall which is much closer and better for us. A sampling of their menu gave us an idea about the variety fare they have brought us with specialties in their own signature pattern. Here is a review of the food we had which was a full course meal beginning with soup, starters, main course and dessert.
Ab-e-hayat – light vegetable and coconut water soup flavored with turmeric and celery. It was refreshingly different, less creamy with a lovely aroma.

Phoenix mall brings more variety in food options with the latest inauguration of Chilis, American and Mexican Restaurant with its array of fresh dishes specifically Tacos, Quesadillas, Nachos, Pizza, Burgers, Soups, Salads, Chili and a good range of starters, margaritas, quenchers and desserts. Punjab Grill Introduces Heirloom Recipes in Phoenix Mall’s Culinary Quest 2017
Phoenix Market City (Phoenix mall), Chennai is celebrating its 2017 edition of Culinary Quest through the month of July. The specialty of this food festival is the introduction of new items in the menu by participating restaurants and a 15% discount on the bill, a bonus at the time we are facing the brunt of GST in our food bills. We visited the Punjab Grill, a participating restaurant to check out the offering for the culinary quest.
Punjab Grill has always been specializing on Punjabi food and justifies its contribution to the food lovers with its quality and service. It was something to look forward to when we came to know that Punjab Grill is working on bringing heirloom recipes for the Culinary Quest this time. We love such food festivals happening occasionally because it makes the restaurant expand its menu and embark on identifying food that lies hidden in our age old culinary treasure. As a foodie, it gives me immense pleasure to see new items being offered to beat that familiarity with the food in their menu but it is no ordinary task to go in search of heirloom recipes and bring it onto our table with the perfection to make sure we enjoy it. Thanks to Punjab Grill Chef team, it was a job well done and we enjoyed the food at its best.
Indulge in Culinary Quest at Phoenix Market City Chennai
Phoenix Market City (Phoenix mall) is a happening place in Chennai not only as a shopping destination but also as the location for trying out different cuisines. Currently Phoenix mall is hosting a new one of a kind experience with Culinary Quest, a festival with specific menu and host of discounts/offers for its customers from leading restaurants such as Nandos, Rajdhani, Punjab Grill, Jonah’s Bistro, ID, Noodle King and Spaghetti Kitchen. The festival is on till Dec 4th. We along with popular food bloggers from Chennai had the opportunity to check out the vegetarian options (Many non-vegetarian dishes too but we cover only vegetarian food in our blog). Now to our experience on the food at the participating outlets, we tasted out the vegetarian dishes at the first five restaurants – Nandos, Rajdhani, Punjab Grill, Jonah’s Bistro, and ID.

Phoenix Market City known as phoenix mall has become a landmark in Chennai as a Multiplex and shopping mall in the southern part of Chennai in Velachery. Living close to it, it is our usual haunt for get-togethers, shopping and a day out with family and friends. Our activities always involved food and Phoenix Market City Chennai (PMCC) has food court and restaurants offering global Indian cuisine. We are vegetarians and so we stick to the Vegetarian food at Rajdhani, ID and Kailash Parbat at the Food court. Though we had seen so many restaurants tempting us to try them out for Vegetarian offering we never tried it out. Just then we got an invitation to be a part of the Food Crawl event with Celebrity foodie Kunal Vijayakar at Phoenix Market City. It was a great opportunity extended to us and we would like to thank Chennai Food Guide for including us in it. We are foodies and anything that spells food has its own connotation in our dictionary.
Rajdhani Thali Restaurant – Celebrating Raw and Ripe Mangoes with Maharaja
Rajdhani is a vegetarian thali restaurant serving meals with Gujarati and Rajasthani dishes. It is known as a Khandhani restaurant where food recipes are collected from villages just like our grandma recipes and then is explored in the kitchen by Maharaja (Master Chef) for volume production and then gets introduced in the menu. We were invited to taste the special dishes to be introduced this season, Mango specials. It was awesome spread of dishes made of raw and ripe mangoes and the Maharaja stood next to us and explained the dishes and its ingredients in the way we could understand. These special dishes would be rotated to the customers as the part of the regular thali during this season.
If you are wondering about the reach of mango in the cuisine, you are in for a surprise. Right from salad to dessert, mango is there in each and their inclusion in the dish is so natural that we do not feel it as an obstruction to the flavor of the dish, in fact in many cases, it enhanced the flavor of the dish – one of it is the mango jalebi.
Vegetarian Food Review : Jonah’s Bistro Goes to Japan with Momoyama
Phoenix market city located in Velachery, Chennai plays host to a number of eateries, ice-cream and juice joints in addition to donuts of Krispy Kreme and Momos of WowMomos. We usually visit Satyam’s ID restaurant for South Indian food , Rajdhani Thali restaurant for North Indian food and Kailash Parbat in the food court for chats. This time, we wanted to try out Jonah’s Bistro and surprisingly we saw Jonah’s goes to Japan with Momoyama tag. We have been looking out for trying vegetarian Japanese food and friends had advised us against it. We thought this is the right opportunity to try out and entered the restaurant located at the basement next to Dunkin Donut outlet. Take the escalator as you walk straight if you are entering by foot, if you are coming by car, head to the middle and take the escalator in the right. As you go down the escalator, you can see Jonah’s Bistro.

Ours is an experience of a different kind, a craving to indulge in something exquisite. Our shopping spree in a mall is a combination of shopping necessities, would be programs of shopping and window shopping. There is one more new term we coined to add to the mall event, window slurping. With mall culture catching up, real estate inside it has become too pricey and so many cafe, juice lounges find a place to put a kiosk in the open areas in the mall to cater to the elite shopping crowd. Now with the cinema theatres finding their way into the malls, people from all walks of life find the mall interesting as a hangout. Coming to the main topic, window slurping taken after window shopping is having a look at those upmarket food brand kiosks with exclusive menu items and whopping price tags and the people having a go at it. Pricey restaurants always get a visit when there is a celebration and it is a way we made sure our window slurping is converted to yummy tummy without those pangs of guilt.
