Chianti Italian Restaurant Vegetarian Food Review
On our usual stroll in Phoenix mall, we came across Chianti and decided to try it out. Chianti is the new Italian restaurant and if you are a Masterchef aficionado, you will be glad that we can try out those lovely Italian dishes in real out here at Chianti. The food was absolutely yummy and the service impeccable. Be ready to see a menu which has Italian names of the dishes and a supportive staff who is ready to assist you. Here is the list of dishes we had – Zucca De Pomodoro, Piatto Di Vegetariani, Ravioli De Spinachi E Ricotta and Pannacotta with Berry Compote.
We begin with a Complimentary Chianti Bruschetta which we prepare given the ingredients. Every table has a simple instruction on the table and it was fun preparing our own Bruschetta with Baguettes, garlic, cherry tomatoes, basil and olive oil. We were so busy preparing and eating it as our Zucca (soup) was getting ready.

We, at ChennaiFocus, were thrilled to try out the dishes at this restaurant which boasts of traditional dishes with a perfect South Indian touch. Before we list out the dishes we had, kudos to the team, who churned us lip smacking dishes, the only drawback being our stomach which filled in fast. 😊

Copper chimney known for its traditional and authentic North Indian food has opened its new outlet in Phoenix Market City, Velachery, Chennai adding to the gastronomic journey of food outlets in the mall. Being an avid lover of Copper Chimney, we were happy when they opened their outlet in Ascendas IT Park. Now they have moved from there to Phoenix mall which is much closer and better for us. A sampling of their menu gave us an idea about the variety fare they have brought us with specialties in their own signature pattern. Here is a review of the food we had which was a full course meal beginning with soup, starters, main course and dessert.
Ab-e-hayat – light vegetable and coconut water soup flavored with turmeric and celery. It was refreshingly different, less creamy with a lovely aroma.
Kerala food is quite popular in Chennai with few specialty restaurants serving authentic mallu cuisine. It was a welcome food festival at Courtyard Marriott – Paprika café as Chef Saji P Alex, the masterchef who has cooked for Ellen de Generes, curated the special dishes that spelt traditional Kerala food in every mouth. The festival is on till 20th, do read our experience and look out for that exquisite offering at Rs.1399 plus taxes. The festival menu has the special dishes along with the regular menu and is quite widespread and quite satisfying to our palate. We had starters, main course, dessert and a special mention to the chips and pickles that drew us repeatedly towards the counter. The ambience was so aesthetically organized to give a street food feel and being in Kerala environment. Now to the food – We had two starter options Cheeri masala vada. This was our typical south Indian vada, a crunchy spicy starter, a good start to a lovely culinary experience.
This post is going to be one awesome experience of pure vegetarian food that spanned multi cuisines and each one outperformed the other. Few of the dishes were exemplary in comparison to the others, but overall it was a lovely culinary journey for us. Most of us know Prive restaurant located opposite to Citi center and this is their new restaurant at Kilpauk at Waddels road. Located in first floor, it is quite spacious to host groups also. New inclusion in the menu includes Mexican dishes, Italian dishes and North Indian food. We had a full course dinner starting from Soups, starters, main course and desserts.
Mexican food was absolutely yummy. Spinach quesadilla and cottage cheese, Mexican Lasagna, Nachos with Cheese sauce, Mexican Varderashvardesh were the hot picks.
In a grand launch at ITC Grand Chola and an evening akin to a perfect traditional event, Levista Instant Coffee was launched by SLN coffee in Chennai. SLN Coffee has more than 50 years in Coffee business exporting over 10000 MT of green coffee, roasted ground coffee powder and instant coffee powder and now brings the product to coffee lovers in Tamilnadu and Karnataka as a start. It is interesting to note that the beans are handpicked and come from SLN’s own coffee estates in Coorg. When it comes to instant coffee, traditional coffee lovers look away because it misses that aroma we are so used to when we have our filter coffee. Levista coffee boasts of filter coffee experience in instant form, a hook enough to attract the coffee lovers, would not be too much if we say coffee addicts who can never say No to coffee.
Today in the era of nuclear families and the need to have a double income to sustain, it is common to see working couples struggling to manage life specifically in cooking food at home. Coming from a professional household, we understand the difficulties of managing time and health in life where competition is high, performance holds the key, travel consumes a major chunk of time and working hours have gone beyond 8 hours. Though our lifestyle has undergone changes, certain elements have gained prominence and demands attention than it was a few decades back. One such issue is lifestyle diseases and the need for balanced nutrition.
Hangouts is the common term narrated by the youth today and many parents must be aware of it. To me, when my daughter says hangout, it means my purse is going to weigh a lot lighter soon. But the necessity of it could not be overlooked because friends move in different directions after school and the close-knit group wait for common holidays to meet each other and the enthusiasm is contagious. If it is just a small group, they do meet at home but then it is not all that comfy for them and if the group is slightly bigger then they start looking out for places where they can eat and spend time together. Youngsters have limitations with their pocket money and many times they are forced to find a place to meet and greet because they have no other option but to spend more.
Today’s visit to the Wai Wai City Noodle Bar in Highway Food Street on 100 feet road made it clear that it is a blessing for these children. It is value for money good quality food in an air-conditioned environment in a central easy to reach location, with all the Ts of a real hangout place. This is the first quick serve restaurant of Wai Wai City Noodle bar in Tamilnadu. A decent menu certainly not the tiring book of items, but has starters, main course, beverages, and a dessert. In starters, we have both veg and non-veg options. In noodles, Vegetarians have an edge here as non-veg items are an add-on. If you believe in your culinary expertise, you can also choose to prepare your own noodles.

Pakwan, a vegetarian restaurant in TNagar, Chennai celebrated the first anniversary of their operations along with the launch of their new menu which boasts of an array of interesting dishes. We were invited to be the part of the celebrations and taste the new menu. It was fun with games and food, and we enjoyed the lovely preparations and the ambience, a special mention to the mocktails we were floored with in the process.
This has been our first visit to the place even though it came up many times earlier. The new menu carries Asparagus risotto with almonds, and to the Masterchef fans out there, it would not sound new. Based out of rice, it was a queer dish for a South Indian but yet delicately interesting and we liked it.
Maplai restaurant is quite popular for their virundhu (feast) and their curated selection of dishes from the Tamilnadu, Kerala and Karnataka region centric cuisine. Right now, Maplai is celebrating Andhra Pradesh food festival during the month of July 2017. The Neelangarai unit is new but we could see a good footfall on the Friday we were there. We arrived early and was well received by Mr. Vinu Shankar, Marketing Manager of the establishment. It was interesting insight onto the process and the honesty in claiming their approach to being near to the authenticity of the dishes to the traditional way of making it. We arrived early and hence could not participate in the virundhu (feast) but did partake various items in the menu.
Phoenix Market City (Phoenix mall), Chennai is celebrating its 2017 edition of Culinary Quest through the month of July. The specialty of this food festival is the introduction of new items in the menu by participating restaurants and a 15% discount on the bill, a bonus at the time we are facing the brunt of GST in our food bills. We visited the Punjab Grill, a participating restaurant to check out the offering for the culinary quest.
Punjab Grill has always been specializing on Punjabi food and justifies its contribution to the food lovers with its quality and service. It was something to look forward to when we came to know that Punjab Grill is working on bringing heirloom recipes for the Culinary Quest this time. We love such food festivals happening occasionally because it makes the restaurant expand its menu and embark on identifying food that lies hidden in our age old culinary treasure. As a foodie, it gives me immense pleasure to see new items being offered to beat that familiarity with the food in their menu but it is no ordinary task to go in search of heirloom recipes and bring it onto our table with the perfection to make sure we enjoy it. Thanks to Punjab Grill Chef team, it was a job well done and we enjoyed the food at its best.
