There’s more good news for air passengers. A modernised domestic terminal at Chennai airport will be thrown open to public on April 14.
Phase 1 Consist of construction of 72,700 Sq. M of three level of Domestic/International Terminal with 104,000 Sq. M of Multilevel car Park for 2600 cars. Simultaneously modification and expansion of 64,300 Sq. M of International terminal with 52,000 Sq. M Multilevel car park.
The new Domestic Terminal at Chennai Airport is an elegant and modern structure with a dramatic, hovering wing-like roof. The terminal will enable the airport to handle 10 million passengers per year.
Airport director H.S. Suresh told DC mock drills would be held from April 1.
“We have completed formalities such as liasioning with airlines for office space and ticket-counter allotments,” he said, adding that the new domestic terminal would start functioning from the date of commissioning, provided airlines set up facilities on time.
