Interior décor is a big challenge when it comes to kids. It is a different take when compared to the aspects of different spaces in home such as living and kitchen. In one of the discussion sessions with a interior decorator while planning our space, my daughter who was listening to everything suddenly interrupted and said nothing you discussed for my room interests me. On a deeper thought, we understood that she has the right to plan her room the way she wants. Let me tell you, it is easily said than done. We have to think as a kid to understand her interest and see everything through her eyes.
Of late thoughts of this nature haunt my mind. Have we made our life too complex to live? Do we have the time to be on our own into those beautiful moments of solitary refinement to introspect and gain those wise insights of absolute wisdom? Privacy has become a public entity. We can live those moments without bothering about our child who is yet to come back from school but not without the mobile phone that was just misplaced. Everything is getting digital and the world is becoming totally virtual sans any personal face to face interactions. Meaningless communication, unseen posts and random forwards have become the idea of keeping in touch but the big question here is do we really connect? Do we enjoy the togetherness we feel when we meet each other in Whatsapp? Do we get that warmth that we treasure when we hold each other’s hands when we like and comment in Facebook? The answer is a Big No.
Now let us move to the pleasant side of things. It is the season of Navaratri in Tamilnadu, a celebration of 9 evenings culminating on the 10th day, Vijayadasami.
Painting my home is always a clash and communion of ideas and at a time when we were planning a makeover with the festive season approaching, we were asked to try out the Bed Bath and More themes and choose paints to suit our collection using the smart tools in their site. It was indeed a Bolt in the Blue and we thought it appropriate to try out the #PaintFinder to check out the paint colors we like and what more, applying on the walls and having a look at its presentation. This proved a valuable tool since a visit to the paint store provided us color cards of Asian Paints, Berger and Nerolac and it was no ordinary task making out how it would be. Also a color that we look at in the card may not look good when applied to the walls since the area is large. For instance, we decided to go for Blues this time and the blue range by itself was daunting that after sometime we just could not visualize anything at all. Our experience with the Bed Bath and More website and the tool here..
