We, at Chennaifocus have never blogged on Finance though it has been a part and parcel of our life. The interest to get into better finance management came with a real-time experience when the money I had invested in a normal FD after maturity failed to match the money value it had when the money was invested. Thanks to a friend, it marked my entry into stock markets and mutual funds. It was not an easy ride and more often it was a trial and error method and thankfully, I became wiser in investing my money and getting it to work for me.
Not many of us tread this path for the simple fear of losing money in the process. Unfortunately, in this industry, failures are talked about more than the success instilling insecurity in the minds of people who are yet to test it out. To be honest, you are losing money when investing in the so called safe methods of investing such as the FDs, Post office schemes and Government bonds simply because the interest it pays you does not beat the inflation and so you end up with the amount much lesser than the value you invested. To understand the way wealth must be built, we must invest in the capital markets.
Coming from an IT background, I know what it means to work sitting in front of the system utilizing mental energy and staying put for longer hours to accomplish challenging tasks. Having seen the travel from computer languages to mobile apps development today, the journey has not been smooth though people envy us for the money we earn but then the work the job demands is no easy task and carries with it stress, strain, fatigue and the additional overload of sitting in front of the system for hours together. Moreover this is one field we can grow stale on the job if we do not keep us in tune with the latest developments and technology updates. The challenges are many and multifaceted but still it holds the interest of many youngsters aspiring to make it big in this field.
There were times when we aspired to make it to US to work for the environment the firms offered us. Today, in the times when the whole world is looking at India for its Make In India, and Startups, I was shocked and sad to note that the IT pass outs ambition lies in finding their dream job in MNCs who have made it to India to utilize the vast talent pool we have here. On a deeper contemplation, it is the environment that induces them to go for such companies. It is during this time that we received an invite to be a part of a Bloggers meet at Ramco systems to showcase Life At Ramco and their initiatives to improve employee experience and better employee engagement. We went there to see the whole perspective from the Corporate and employee angle and here is our experience.
It has been long since we did start wondering that one day, the entire marketplace would stare at our doorstep and we would only be a click away from buying what we desire. However, the whole concept of e-tailing is only not about buying but encompasses a larger perspective on end-to-end product life cycle.
It is no surprise that Chennai, India is home to one of the biggest retail markets in the world. And, it wouldn’t be surprising if the advancement in e-tailing is as phenomenal as it is today. Often, we see a good amount of e-tailing portals going for the kill and announcing bonanzas to customers on all products ranging from apparel to electronics. There are very few websites that are host to aspiring entrepreneurs. Consider the case of ezebee.com. This portal is not just one on the internet but is home to a trove of information on how to go about being a successful entrepreneur.
Press releases announce products to the world, the first point of official release of a launch and it forms the basis of its reach to the target audience. In the print world, press releases were released through newspapers and magazines and it served the purpose given the reach of these mediums during that time. With the advent of internet, press releases were also released through websites and we also have specific ones intended to publish PRs. As the internet reach swelled, it has almost become the medium to reach people but few questions still remain – Is the PR reaching the intended audience? Is the PR released in the right time when the product is launched?

For those gadget savvy, authors and people believing in reading printed text and keeping electronic text in paper form, students working their heads out in projects and a new breed of freelancers and employees working from home under the concept of ‘SOHO’, this product review is dedicated to you. The product we are talking about is a Printer. We know that the moment we say Printer, three things pop into our mind – Finding a place to keep it in the computer table, tangled wires and managing the ink from drying so we get it working when we need it most. Trust me, I too belong to this league and I have 3 printers all lying idle. It is a costly real estate keeping it in my ever cramped home of books, papers and gadgets. It has been a frustrating experience buying a printer with the idea of getting everything done in-house and when we do want to use it, it just does not work, spews ink and ultimately makes you run to a shop to get it printed. So post 2013, whatever printer related work has always been a run to the shop at last minute. A staunch NO to repeated requests for a printer and sometime even laserjets were suggested as an option going by the volume of printing we do. Whoever said we are going towards a paperless world should check our volume of paper used for printing, thanks to every organization we work with who wants hard copies with soft copies. Not to leave out the scanning and copiers aspect, it has been a huge investment of time and money, let me mention it here, it is not to take the copy, but going in search of a shop in an auto or car to get it.
In the 80s and 90s, when we wanted to provide a loving gift to our dear ones, we would draw and paint a greeting card or do some embroidery on the dress to give it the personal touch. With the onset of digital era, customizing key chains, cups, and apparels with photos and graffiti provided a personal touch to the item from the set of options. Websites offering such services took gifting to a different level. We have seen photographs printed on products to make it into an object that goes beyond just buying it and created a connection, an emotional bonding. The next era is about bringing our thoughts and inspiration through the digital medium. Imagine what it would be if we could create our own design and get it printed on a T-shirt. It is a great idea to give shape to your creativity and adds that extra dimension we aspire on to the T-shirt. As an added advantage, if we could sell those t-shirts for a profit, wouldn’t it be a lovely idea? This is what Freecultr offers us. We decided to try their #ExpressYourself activity to see if we could create our T-shirt store and upload our designs there so we could sell them. Read on to get to know about our experience …
