Food Review – Asian Aroma at Chetpet
Asian Aroma is an Asian Vegetarian restaurant where we had specialty Asian dishes including rotis, and choice of north Indian subjis. The term Asian somehow rings Chinese to us and though they had mouth watering Chinese dishes, it was the Roti and Tawa Paneer along with Paneer Tikka that stole the show. It is located on Mayor Ramanathan Road in Chetpet closer to the Eco Park.
We went there for a review and the food was interesting and being a vegetarian, a place serving only vegetarian food is a big plus. Asian food and vegetarian, we do not have a lot of options. So vegetarians out there, this is a nice place to try out different cuisines that includes Indian food too.
Coming to the Chinese food, the tossed tofu was a clean Hit. It was the first time we tasted something that had a coconut garlic combination so mildly spread on the tofu. Very interesting dish you must make sure to add to your menu. The sweet and tangy water chestnut and the baby corn fry were quite good.

What is Chinese food review without the dimsums – Water Chestnut momo, mixed veg momo and mushroom momos, each had their own flavor and taste – no inclusion of same spices across all of them. It boasted of thin covering, mild flavored, this is another must try too. Mixed Veg Bao, the bun was super soft and the filling crunchy, a tad sweet for our liking.

Asian Aroma’s Paneer is a big hit. Soft creamy paneer we had as a part of paneer tikka rightly spiced and in Tawa paneer. Do try it out these mouth watering dishes.
Coming to the areas of improvement, we found a few of Chinese dishes, quite spicy to our palate. Small bombs of red pepper were shooting down hot spice into our throat. Thankfully, it is one specific addition of pepper and we could keep it away and then the dishes were tasty. The dishes that fell in this category were the Soup and the Basil rice, basil sauce combination. It was a shame that the aromatic basil rice had this issue but the temptation to have it without those peppers were pretty intense till we decided it is too much work. Sadly, the sauce too was spicy and did more harm than good in the process.
In the dessert, we had the typical Chinese Darsan with vanilla ice-cream. Darsan is honey based crunchy strips (noodles) and is topped with ice cream, a traditional Chinese dessert.
Ice Kraft is also attached to the restaurant where you can get cold stone ice creams, charcoal based ice creams and few quick eats.
