Imaging Cinema 2012 Workshop in IIT Madras
IIT Madras is conducting a workshop on ‘Imaging Cinema 2012: Screenwriting and Film Direction’, till June 10, 2012. The 2012 edition has an interesting line-up of speakers with a perfect blend of theory and practical knowledge about films. The framework of the course has been designed by Atul Tiwari (‘Mission Kashmir’, ‘Dasavatharam’ and currently working on ‘Viswaroopam’ with Kamal Haasan) and K Hariharan, director of the L V Prasad Institute of Film and Television.
The workshop will have interactive sessions with filmmakers and technicians from the industry like Habib Faisal, cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran, Rohan Sippy, Shriram Raghavan, Shridhar Raghavan, writers Suresh and Bala (SuBa) and editor Anthony, filmmaker Thiagarajan Kumararaja and Sudhish Kamath, film critic and writer-director.
The first part will be a film appreciation module, the second will look into film execution, focusing on the mechanics of filmmaking such as lighting, sound and camera, and the third and most defining part is the scriptwriting section, where participants will first work in groups on existing scripts to understand the process of construction.
The last day will be a ‘red carpet’ event where the work of each student group will be discussed and rated.
