Taste Thai, Malaysian and Chinese at 3 Kingdoms Restaurant

3 Kingdoms, the new restaurant that serves three cuisines – Thai, Malaysian and Chinese, on Khader Nawaz Khan Road is the brainchild of Chandran Narayanan, who has a background in the telecom sector, and Joshua Clark from the IT background. Says Narayanan, “Both of us are foodies ourselves. We love to travel, eat and are passionate about good food. Suddenly, we found that the timing was right, everything just seemed to come together and we took the plunge.”

Their choice of cuisine came after much deliberation. “We did some market research and found that after local food, Chinese is the second most loved and sought after cuisine in the city, followed by Punjabi food. And there is really no other place in Chennai that serves these three cuisines together, which is a sha me considering that Thai and Malay flavours are quite similar toour own.”

The restaurant, complete with Oriental motifs and textures, is headed by a team of experienced, international chefs from Singapore and Malaysia. “We travelled extensively, visiting markets in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, learning about ingredients and recipes and it is with this knowledge that we crafted the menu at 3 Kingdoms.”

For palates that are not accustomed to unfamiliar tastes, Narayanan has Indianise a few dishes, like the fried rice. “But we have remained true to many dishes like the Malay style seafoodpreparation, the Mee Goreng and Nasi Goreng.”

Some of the signature dishes here are the Coffee Flavoured Chicken, chicken marinated with prawn paste; Deep Fried Fish Cakes, Crispy Lemon Chicken and Mongolian style gravies, among others.
