Unexpected Visitors :Monsoon Has Brought Snakes
The monsoons are here and so it appears are visitors of the slithery kind. Snakes have been spotted with increasing frequency in Madipakkam, Palavakkam, Moovarsampettai, Injam-bakkam, Ambattur, Avadi, Mogapair and Thirumullaivoyil, among other areas since the onset of the monsoon.
“Over the last three weeks we have rescued 120 rat snakes and 12 cobras among other snakes. As many as 121 snakes however, got away before they could be captured. We expect to do more rescues by the end of the month as there are bound to be more distress calls,” says David Raj, range officer, city wildlife headquarters.
Should you spot some of these unwelcome visitors you can call 22200335 for help and see that they are rescued and returned to their wild habitat without hurting them.
